According to the Maryland-based seller I purchased this from, he found it in a bag (when searching the premises for furniture to purchase) among a few other clinical related items near what was the patient dormitory area of the once standing (now demolished) and historically well-known Chestnut Lodge Insane Asylum in Rockville, Maryland.

The facility was well known for its psychiatric and psychoanalytic methods of treating mental patients. The seller (who resides approx.1 hour from Rockville) found this straight jacket around 1995 while navigating the remains of Chestnut Lodge and has had it since then. The jacket is a genuine J.T. Posey jacket and is a size LARGE. The yellow coloring on the collar identifies the jacket as being a large, fitting a person around 140-160 lbs. It is made of heavy canvas and all the buckles are in great shape and intact. It has a few minor faint stains here and there (and a bit on the collar) but this jacket appears to have been minimally worn. It is in very good shape!!!!! I DO NOT KNOW THE EXACT AGE OF THIS PIECE. It has a vintage-look to it but I will not claim to know its exact age. All tags are intact.
I am selling this jacket as item for entertainment purposes ONLY.
Could be used in a magic act. No modifications have been made to this jacket for any reason. My sister is modeling the jacket so buyers can see how the jacket looks on.
